Your Setúbal Wedding Photographer
Natural Wedding Photography Across Setúbal
for the Soulful and Wonderfully Real
There is something special about Setúbal.
Every corner of Setúbal tells a different story. You might exchange vows overlooking the vineyards of Azeitão, celebrate at a beautiful quinta in Palmela or say “I do” with the Arrábida mountains behind you. Others choose the coastline for an intimate destination wedding. Wherever you celebrate, every wedding here has its own rhythm.
I’m Rita, a documentary wedding photographer based just minutes from Setúbal. Since 2016 I’ve photographed weddings throughout the district, creating relaxed, honest images that allow couples to be fully present while preserving every meaningful moment.
Why Get Married in Setúbal?
Setúbal is one of Portugal’s most diverse wedding destinations. Within a short drive you’ll find dramatic mountains, beautiful beaches, historic castles and family-owned vineyards. Whether you’re dreaming of a traditional quinta or a destination wedding surrounded by nature, the region offers an unforgettable setting.
Whether you’re dreaming of an elegant celebration at a traditional quinta, a relaxed seaside ceremony or a destination wedding surrounded by nature, Setúbal combines stunning scenery, excellent venues and easy access from Lisbon, making it the perfect place to begin your next chapter together.
My Wedding Photography Style
My approach to wedding photography is all about capturing your day as it naturally unfolds. Rather than filling your wedding with endless poses, I focus on genuine moments, real emotions and the little in-between memories that often become the most treasured.
I’ll gently guide you when needed, especially during your couple portraits, while creating a relaxed atmosphere where you can simply enjoy your wedding day. The result is a collection of timeless, heartfelt images that tell the story of your celebration exactly as it felt.

More Than Your Wedding Photographer
Your wedding photographs will become one of the very few things that grow in value over time. Long after the flowers have faded, the cake has been eaten and your dress is carefully stored away, your photographs will be what bring you back to the people, the emotions and the moments that mattered most.
That’s why I believe choosing your wedding photographer is about so much more than loving someone’s portfolio.
It’s about finding someone you genuinely trust.
Someone who knows when to quietly disappear into the background and when to gently step in to help. Someone who notices your parents holding hands during dinner, your best friend wiping away tears during the speeches, or the look you exchange just before walking down the aisle.
The moments that often happen in the blink of an eye, but end up meaning everything years later.
Since 2016, I’ve photographed weddings across Portugal with one simple goal: to create photographs that feel just as meaningful in thirty years as they do the day you receive them. My style is documentary at heart, editorial at the soul level, capturing your wedding naturally as it unfolds, with just enough gentle guidance to help you feel comfortable when we’re creating your portraits together.
One of the things my couples often tell me is how calm they felt having me by their side. That’s something I value deeply. Weddings rarely go exactly according to plan, and after years of experience I’ve learned that staying calm, adapting quickly and quietly solving problems allows you to focus on what really matters: celebrating with the people you love.
The Process
Planning a wedding can feel overwhelming, and I believe your photographer should make the experience easier—not add to the stress. From the moment you enquire until long after your wedding day, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
1. Let’s Get to Know Each Other
Every wedding begins with a conversation. We’ll arrange a relaxed video call or meet for a coffee where we’ll chat about your plans, what’s important to you and how you imagine your wedding day. It’s also your chance to ask absolutely anything. Choosing your photographer is a big decision, and I want you to feel completely confident that we’re the right fit for one another.
2. Booking & Welcome Guide
Once you’ve decided to book, everything can be completed online. You’ll receive your contract, invoice and booking confirmation, making the process simple no matter where you’re based.
Soon after, I’ll send you my Wedding Guide. This is a resource I’ve created from years of experience photographing weddings. Inside you’ll find practical advice, timeline suggestions, tips for getting the best photographs, ideas for your ceremony, family photos, portraits and much more. My goal is simple: to help you avoid the little stresses before they ever become problems.
3. Planning Together
As your wedding approaches, we’ll stay in touch to refine every detail. I’ll help you build a timeline that works for your venue, your ceremony and the light throughout the day, ensuring you have enough time for beautiful portraits without feeling like you’re missing your own celebration.
We’ll also discuss family group photos, any meaningful traditions, important people you’d like me to look out for and any special moments you’ve planned as a surprise.
4. Your Wedding Day
When the day finally arrives, my priority is simple: I want you to enjoy it.
Most of the day I’ll work quietly in the background, documenting genuine moments as they naturally happen. I’ll capture the laughter, the hugs, the nervous excitement, the tears and all the little moments you might never even notice happening around you.
When it’s time for your couple portraits, you don’t need to worry about knowing how to pose. I’ll gently guide you with simple prompts and movement so nothing ever feels forced or unnatural. Most couples tell me afterwards that it felt more like spending a few quiet moments together than having their photograph taken.
I’ll also organise family photographs efficiently, keep an eye on your timeline and, if something unexpected happens—as it sometimes does at weddings—you’ll have someone experienced by your side who knows how to adapt calmly and keep everything moving.
5. Carefully Editing Your Story
After your wedding, every image is individually reviewed and hand-edited to reflect the colours, atmosphere and emotions exactly as they felt. I never rush this part of the process because your photographs deserve time and attention.
Within your online gallery you’ll receive a carefully curated collection that tells the complete story of your wedding day—from the biggest moments to the quiet ones you never even realised happened.
6. Reliving Your Wedding
Your gallery is only the beginning.
You’ll be able to easily share your photographs with family and friends, order professional-quality prints and design a beautiful wedding album that can be enjoyed for generations to come.
Because while photographs look wonderful on a screen, they’re meant to be held, passed around the table and rediscovered years from now.
My job doesn’t end when I deliver your gallery. It ends when your memories have a place they’ll be treasured forever.
