Lisbon & Portugal Wedding Photographer for Honest, Editorial & Candid Weddings

The Story Behind the Stories
I’m Rita, a Lisbon wedding photographer with a documentary approach and an editorial eye. Based in Palmela, I work across Lisbon, Setúbal and all over Portugal.
My goal is simple: to photograph people as they really are.
From healthcare to photography
Before photography became my full-time career, I trained in cardiac physiology.
It might seem like a strange road into wedding photography, but looking back, it makes perfect sense.
That background taught me to observe carefully, listen closely and stay calm when things get intense. It also taught me to notice small changes that other people might miss.
Photography simply gave those instincts a different language.
What I learned along the way
Since becoming a full-time photographer in 2014, I’ve photographed hundreds of couples, weddings, families and stories.
Along the way, I’ve also worked as a second photographer for some of Portugal’s talented wedding photographers and continued to invest in workshops, conferences and mentorships.
Most importantly, I’ve learned that great wedding photography is not about creating perfect moments.
It is about being there when the real ones happen.
So, what does “documentary with an editorial eye” actually mean?
Documentary means I don’t manufacture moments just because they look good in photographs.
I watch carefully, listen closely and anticipate what might happen next.
Editorial means I still care deeply about composition, light, colour and the way an image feels as a finished photograph.
So your gallery can contain the messy hug, the grandmother crying, the champagne flying and the ridiculous dance floor moment — but photographed with intention.
Real moments. Beautifully seen.
Beyond the Expected
The responsibility of photographing your wedding? Very seriously.
The responsibility of keeping a straight face during questionable dance moves? Slightly less seriously.
Based in Palmela, Photographing Weddings Across Portugal
Living in Palmela, I’m surrounded by vineyards and the Arrábida mountains, but I most of the work is done in Lisbon, Setúbal, Azeitão, and all of Portugal. From seaside proposals in Sintra to elegant weddings in historic quintas, I know this region intimately and love guiding couples to the best places to celebrate their story.
Things you'll probably discover about me
Fueled by Coca-Cola and 80’s nostalgia, here are some of my quirks:
And then there's Baga.
Every creative business needs someone in charge.
Baga handles quality control, camera-bag inspections and reminding me that working twelve hours straight is, apparently, not a sustainable business model.
She’s also considerably better at posing than most of my clients. 😂
Testimonials
A few words from my couples
Over the years, I’ve had the honour of photographing weddings, families and soulful stories across Lisbon, Setúbal and all over Portugal.
I could tell you that I care about my couples, that I’m professional and that I want everyone to feel comfortable in front of my camera.
But I think their experience says it better.
The Journey So Far
I’ve learned from some of the best — and I’m still learning.
Photography is a craft that never really stops evolving. For that reason, I continue to attend conferences, workshops and mentorships that challenge me creatively and help me become a better photographer.
Every story I photograph is shaped by what I’ve learned and, just as importantly, by what I’ve unlearned along the way.
